Quran Teaches about writing a WILL( a bequest )

In the Quran Allah teaches about writing will before death

Quran Chapter 5  Ayah 106 and 107

O believers! When death approaches any one of you, let two just men from among yourselves act as witnesses at the time of making your last will;

or from the non-Muslims if you are travelling through the land and the calamity of death overtakes you.

If you doubt their honesty, detain them after prayer and let them both swear by Allah:

"We will not sell our testimony for any price, even to a relative, and we will not hide the testimony which we will be giving for the sake of Allah; for we shall be sinners if we do so."

Then, if it becomes known that those two were guilty of the sin of perjury,

then let two others better qualified witnesses from among those who were deprived of their right come forward and testify upon oath,

"By Allah, our testimony is truer than theirs. We have not transgressed in our testimony; for we should be wrongdoers if we did so."

Autocratic Rulers of Central Asia

The experience of the Islamic Revival Party in Tajikistan (IRPT) can offer useful lessons for Islamic socio-political organizations worldwide and they can learn how to avoid failures

Tajik's leader Rahmon’s regime is ranked as one of the most autocratic and corrupt regimes in the world

The global Islamic movement must ask itself the question: how can a country where the Islamic movement achieved significant socio-political and military gains in the mid-1990s sink to a level where a dictator like Rahmon feels quite comfortable implementing his un-Islamic  policies?

Taking into account that IRPT(
the Islamic Revival Party in Tajikistan (IRPT  ) the only legally recognized Islamic socio-political organization, an achievement that cost the movement thousands of martyrs, IRPT’s political indecisiveness and lack of charismatic leadership undermined its ability to capitalize on its victories.

By studying the experience of the IRPT, Islamic socio-political militant movements leading the Islamic Awakening in Arab countries can learn what they should avoid in their struggle.

Three primary lessons are evident from the Tajik experience:

a) the Islamic movement must avoid playing within the artificial and illegitimate socio-political process outlined by the autocratic regime and its remnants;

b) the Islamic movement must be led by muttaqi leadership; and

c) the presence or interference by foreign imperialist troops never leads to authentic and positive change.

Hypocrisy and changing the mind and Ideas

We have all been in situations where we feel the need to defend our own beliefs. We’ve all had debates about our personal opinions.

Have any of us ever stopped to think about the point of it all? Some people  stand their  ground and explain their opinions because they believe in them, and they have an internal end goal of changing that person’s mind.

If we want to shift people’s views by explaining our beliefs, then we can’t shame them for having that change of heart. Yet, we sometimes have a tendency to call people out when they act in a way that opposes a previous opinion.

In fact, it does a lot of harm to accuse people of hypocrisy when their behavior and beliefs change. If we put that negative label on people who make a life change, we’re in turn sending them the message that having an open mind is wrong.

Of course, hypocrisy is completely different than changing your mind.

Zakah Wealth Tax in Islam

Zakah fund exceeding Rs  200 Billion in India is an exaggeration without authentic statistics

Sums added by rich Arab Govts may have inflated the figure  but all such sums  do not form as Zakah funds

I give one real example from a rich guy in my neighbourhood.

His total Zakah fund per annum is approximately  Rs 12 lakhs
But he does not distribute  the whole 12 lakhs as per the Islamic Shariah

How much does he do distribute?

here it is

To people knocking at his door asking for alms and sadaka
He pays ranging from Rs 10 to 500 and the total distributed that way is Rs 10,000

He pays Zakah to his poor relatives first cousins, second cousins, nephews, nieces uncles, aunts, blood brothers and sisters and similar relatives and the number does not exceed 30 and each on an average he pays Rs 2,000  that is, Rs 60,000

To institutions such as Muslim orphanages and similar may be
About 50 institutions each receiving Rs 2,000 and hence the total    Rs1,00,000

And if the three are added up the total Zakah paid by him is………….Rs 1,70,000

AND NOT 12 lakhs that he is obligated to pay

This is the case with far too many people who are compelled by Shari rules to pay Zakah

Conclusion Many of us do not pay in excess but we are basically stingy and hard fisted when it comes to parting away with what Islam considers charity

There may be very few exceptions of genuinely charitable people who may pay more than their entitled share

I think it is an easily observable fact in many Muslim countries Muslims are basically good at practicing all other acts of Rukun Islam such as Solat, Sawm(fasting) and Haj but when it comes to the accurate calculation of Zakah and its distribution we are stingy, selfish, grudging, tightfisted and uncharitable

I am not sure about this , but I have heard  a few times on the Jumah Qutbah that  on the Yawmudden( day of judgment) Allah would not give much weight to all other acts of Ibadah of the rich but to his paying Zakah

How many rich are well disciplined in paying the right amount of Zakah at the right time?
